Professor
Tony Lavender – Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean at Salomons,
Head of Centre for Applied Social and Psychological Development
(CASPD)
Tony Lavender is a clinical psychologist whose
first degree was from Swansea. His postgraduate professional
training
was
at the Institute
of Psychiatry. His Doctorate in aspects of service evaluation
in
mental health was from the University of London. Throughout
his career he has retained clinical contact with people who
have
severe and long term mental health problems. He has published
extensively on aspects of service delivery, clinical practice,
quality assurance and evaluation of mental health services,
especially for people with psychosis and who are long term
users.
Within
clinical psychology he has been influential in developing
nationally agreed and applied approaches to standards and evaluation
methods
for postgraduate training and both standards and processes
for accreditation of training programmes.
Within mental
health, he
was one of the four originators of the process and standards
based QUARTZ approach to service review and development.
Much of his clinical, consultancy and teaching work is focused
on
effective team working and inter-agency collaboration.
Prior
to Salomons transferring from the Regional Health Authority
to Canterbury Christ Church College, as Academic Director,
he was
responsible for securing accredited status for the Institution
and accreditation for management and professional programmes. |
