Professor Tony LavenderProfessor Tony Lavender – Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean at Salomons, Head of Centre for Applied Social and Psychological Development (CASPD)

Tony Lavender is a clinical psychologist whose first degree was from Swansea. His postgraduate professional training was at the Institute of Psychiatry. His Doctorate in aspects of service evaluation in mental health was from the University of London. Throughout his career he has retained clinical contact with people who have severe and long term mental health problems. He has published extensively on aspects of service delivery, clinical practice, quality assurance and evaluation of mental health services, especially for people with psychosis and who are long term users.

Within clinical psychology he has been influential in developing nationally agreed and applied approaches to standards and evaluation methods for postgraduate training and both standards and processes for accreditation of training programmes.

Within mental health, he was one of the four originators of the process and standards based QUARTZ approach to service review and development. Much of his clinical, consultancy and teaching work is focused on effective team working and inter-agency collaboration.

Prior to Salomons transferring from the Regional Health Authority to Canterbury Christ Church College, as Academic Director, he was responsible for securing accredited status for the Institution and accreditation for management and professional programmes.
